Lake Otún Lake

Lake Otún is a high-altitude mountain lake in Risaralda Department, Colombia, located within the Central Andes near Los Nevados. It is a glacially-formed lake that serves as a headwater for local river systems.

Hikers and nature visitors access the lake via trails from nearby protected areas and reserve stations; the site is valued for high-mountain scenery and birdlife. Access usually requires a drive to a trailhead followed by a walk at altitude.

The lake occupies a basin carved by Pleistocene glaciers and has long been part of regional watershed systems. Conservation measures in nearby protected areas have sought to preserve water quality and high Andean ecosystems.
