Kuriat
Islands Tunisian island in Gulf of Hammamet
Kuriat are two small islands off Monastir’s coast; boat trips bring visitors for sandy shores, seabird observation and short excursions from the mainland’s resort towns.
Kuriat is a small group of islets off the coast of the Monastir Governorate in central Tunisia. The group comprises two low islets lying in the Mediterranean Sea.
The islets have rocky and sandy shores and are reached only by boat; they are visited for short excursions from the mainland for coastal scenery and marine observation. There are no large built visitor facilities on the islets.
Historically the islets have been used for local fishing and as occasional anchorage; there is no record of permanent settlements on them. They are best understood as minor coastal features rather than developed islands.
Kuriat sits in the coastal waters east of the city of Monastir, roughly on the order of 15 to 20 kilometres offshore of the central Monastir coast. The nearest mainland access points are ports and beaches along the Monastir coastline.
- Two-islet group: The feature consists of two small islets located in the Mediterranean off Tunisia's central coast.
