How to Get to Kora

Kora in Rwanda's Western Province is reached most practically by road from Kigali or by a limited domestic flight into Kamembe (KME) when available. Overland travel by bus or private car is common and often necessary for the final leg to small settlements.

By Air

Kigali International Airport (KGL): Rwanda’s main international gateway. From Kigali to Western Province locations you can travel by hired car or bus; the drive to the Rusizi/Kamembe area is roughly 3-4 hours depending on destination and road conditions.

Kamembe Airport (KME): A small domestic airport near Cyangugu (Kigali’s Western Province access point). It handles limited scheduled flights-if you can get a seat it significantly reduces surface travel time to nearby towns.

By Train & Bus

Bus / Co‑operative coaches: Long-distance buses and shared taxis connect Kigali with towns in Western Province (including routes toward Cyangugu/Kamembe). Buses depart from Kigali city stations; travel times depend on road and weather conditions and can be several hours.

Local moto‑taxis and minibuses: For final-mile connections within rural districts, motorcycle taxis (motos) and local minibuses are the common options. Negotiate fares up front for motos and keep small change for buses.
