Ko Nang Yuan

Ko Nang Yuan is a tiny cluster of three rocky islets joined by a curving sandbar in the Gulf of Thailand near Koh Tao. The combination of the sandbar and steep-sided islets creates a compact, photogenic island group widely recognised for snorkeling and short viewpoint hikes.

The site is famous for the sandbar that becomes walkable at lower tides and for clear-water snorkeling over reefs close to the shore. A short trail to a ridge viewpoint provides panoramic views over the sandbar and neighbouring waters, and the islets’ small beaches are the main landing points for day visitors.

Ko Nang Yuan developed into a popular day-trip destination from Koh Tao and surrounding islands; its small size means visitors typically spend only a few hours ashore before returning to larger islands. Management measures limit overnight stays and control visitor numbers to protect the fragile reef and sandbar.

The islets lie a short boat ride off the coast of Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand and are reached almost exclusively by longtail or speedboat from Koh Tao and nearby piers.
