Bo Phut (often spelled Bophut) is a subdistrict and coastal town on the northeastern coast of Koh Samui island in Surat Thani Province, Thailand. It is best known for its preserved beachfront village area and local markets.
The area is notable for the Fisherman’s Village - a line of wooden shop-houses and restaurants that hosts a popular weekly night market - and for Bophut Beach, a shallow sandy bay with numerous small hotels and eateries. The beachfront and village form the main visitor-facing parts of the locality.
Originally a fishing village with a Chinese merchant community, the area developed into a tourism centre during the late 20th century while retaining its village streets and traditional buildings. Local commerce today is focused on hospitality, dining and retail aimed at visitors and residents.
