Hat Mae Nam
Historical Site Quiet Koh Samui beach with relaxed atmosphere
Mae Nam Beach on Koh Samui offers a quieter shoreline, sunset views and local seafood restaurants; visitors choose it for relaxed swimming, small resorts and ferry access to nearby islands.
Hat Mae Nam is the beach along the Mae Nam area on the north coast of Koh Samui, Surat Thani Province, Thailand. It forms a long coastal frontage for the Mae Nam village and adjacent resort area.
The shoreline provides a broad sandy beach with local accommodations, eateries and palms set back from the sand. The northern aspect gives views across to neighboring islands on clear days and the setting is comparatively low-rise and relaxed.
The coastline transitioned from local fishing and coconut-growing settlements into a low-density resort strip over the late 20th century. Development has retained a more village-like character compared with the island’s main party centres.
Geographically the beach lies on the northern side of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand, with ferry and air connections linking the island to the mainland and nearby islands.
- Sea views: Faces north toward Koh Phangan, offering island views on clear days from the shoreline.
- Character: Generally quieter than the island's busiest beaches, making it suitable for longer walks along the sand.
