How to Get to Khobi
Khobi is reached by road from several regional airports and by rail via nearby hubs such as Poti and Zugdidi. The practical arrival routes are Kutaisi Airport (for most international connections) or Batumi, with onward minibuses, taxis or regional trains to reach the town.
Kutaisi International Airport (KUT): The closest major airport for western Georgia; regular domestic minibuses and marshrutkas run from Kutaisi to towns in Samegrelo, and private taxis are available outside the terminal. Expect drive time to Khobi by car of about 1-1.5 hours; taxi transfers typically cost in the region of €30-€60 depending on vehicle and negotiation.
Batumi International Airport (BUS): A useful alternative if flying from Turkey or some regional carriers; Batumi is farther (roughly 1.5-2.5 hours by car to Khobi). Shared minibuses to regional hubs and private taxis are the main public options - journey times 1.5-2.5 hours, fares typically higher than from Kutaisi because of the longer distance.
Train: Khobi district is served by regional rail connections on the western Georgian lines; the nearest larger stations are Poti and Zugdidi, where long-distance trains (to Tbilisi and Zugdidi) stop. From Poti or Zugdidi you can catch local taxis or minibuses to Khobi; travel times from Zugdidi/Poti are typically 20-60 minutes depending on route.
Bus / Marshrutka: Intercity marshrutkas connect Kutaisi, Poti, Zugdidi and local towns in Samegrelo; prices are low (usually a few GEL) and travel time from Kutaisi is about 1-1.5 hours, from Poti or Zugdidi much shorter. Buses and minibuses depart from central bus stations in larger towns - schedules are frequent but can be informal, so allow flexibility.
How to Get Around Khobi #
Khobi is small and easy to explore on foot; the town center and nearby sights are compact. For longer trips, regional minibuses (marshrutkas) and shared taxis run to larger towns like Zugdidi and Senaki - expect low fares but irregular schedules. If you have a car, driving is the most flexible option for exploring Samegrelo. Local taxis and bicycle rides are available but not plentiful; plan connections in advance, especially outside business hours.
