How to Get to Abasha#
Abasha in Samegrelo is best reached by road from Georgia’s western hubs (Zugdidi, Kutaisi or Tbilisi). Marshrutkas and regional buses are the most common public transport; trains reach the area but are less flexible.
Kutaisi International Airport (KUT): Kutaisi is the closest larger international airport for western Georgia; from Kutaisi you can travel by marshrutka/minibus or taxi to Zugdidi and then onward to Abasha. Total travel time from Kutaisi to Abasha is typically 2-3.5 hours depending on connections; marshrutkas are the cheapest option.
Tbilisi International Airport (TBS): Tbilisi is the country’s main airport; from Tbilisi you can take long‑distance marshrutkas, intercity buses or trains toward Zugdidi/Abasha. Travel by road is longer (3-5 hours) but offers more frequent departures.
