How to Get to Khlung
Khlung in Chanthaburi province is most straightforwardly reached by road from Bangkok or Trat. Buses from Ekkamai and domestic flights to Trat (when available) are the usual arrival options; local taxis and tuk‑tuks handle short connections.
Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK): Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi is the main international gateway for eastern Thailand. From BKK you can reach Khlung (Chanthaburi province) by bus from the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai) in Bangkok (see bus paragraph) or by private transfer. Driving time from BKK to Khlung is about 3-4 hours depending on traffic; private transfers can cost 2,000-3,500 THB.
Trat Airport (TDX): Trat Airport has limited domestic flights (Bangkok Airways) and is the closest airport to Chanthaburi province by distance for some routes. From Trat Airport to Khlung expect around 1-1.5 hours by taxi (≈700-1,200 THB) though schedules and vehicle availability vary.
Train: There is no direct train to Khlung; the State Railway of Thailand serves routes as far east as Chonburi and Prachinburi but not Chanthaburi town itself.
Bus: Regular buses and minivans depart from Bangkok’s Ekkamai (Eastern Bus Terminal) to Chanthaburi; travel time to Khlung area is about 3.5-4.5 hours and fares are commonly 200-350 THB for standard buses and slightly higher for minivans. From Chanthaburi town local tuk‑tuks or taxis complete the final short leg to Khlung.
How to Get Around Khlung #
Khlung town is compact and easy to walk in its centre, with shops and the administrative area close together. Local transport includes songthaews (shared pickup trucks), motorbike taxis and occasional minibuses to Chanthaburi city; short rides usually cost a few dozen baht. For regional travel - for example to Chanthaburi’s city centre or beaches - use scheduled minibuses or hire a private taxi. Renting a motorcycle is common if you’re comfortable riding.
