How to Get to Khakhea
Khakhea is a rural settlement in Botswana's Southern District that's reached by road from larger towns or airports. There is no direct rail link; minibuses, local taxis and private transfers are the usual transport modes.
Sir Seretse Khama International Airport, Gaborone (GBE): Gaborone is the nearest major international airport for southern Botswana. From Gaborone to Khakhea (Southern District) you will usually continue by road-private transfer or intercity bus to the district then a local taxi or combi for the final leg.
Maun / Francistown (regional): Depending on your starting point elsewhere in Botswana, regional airports may reduce driving time to southern districts but will still require substantial road travel to reach Khakhea.
Train: Botswana’s passenger rail network does not serve small villages directly; rail is concentrated on main freight/passenger corridors and is not practical for final-leg travel to Khakhea.
Bus: Intercity buses and minibuses (combis) connect major towns; local minibuses serve final legs into rural Southern District villages. Services are inexpensive but schedules can be irregular-ask locally for departure points and times.

Nightlife is essentially non-existent - social life tends to be local and low-key at homes or community spots. For any bars or evening entertainment you’ll need to visit larger centres.
