By Air

Jwaneng Airport (JWA): Jwaneng has a small airstrip serving charter and private flights; scheduled commercial service is extremely limited. From the airstrip into town expect a short taxi ride of about 5-10 minutes; local taxi fares are typically modest (roughly 20-60 BWP depending on vehicle).

Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (GBE): Gaborone’s international airport is the main gateway for international travellers. Road transfers from Gaborone to Jwaneng take about 1.5-2.5 hours by car; shared shuttles/minibuses commonly run the route and private taxis/transfers are also available. Typical door-to-door travel time is 1.5-2.5 hours; expect private transfers to cost several hundred Botswana pula (price varies; get a quote in advance).

By Train & Bus

Travel time from Gaborone by road is typically 1.5-2.5 hours depending on service and stops; fares for minibuses are generally inexpensive (ask locally for current fares) and private shuttle companies publish fixed prices - book ahead during busy periods.

How to Get Around Jwaneng #

Taxis and private hires are the most common motorised option for trips within town; shared minibuses connect to other towns but services are infrequent. If you plan to explore beyond the town or visit mine-area viewpoints, a car is the most practical choice. Expect short taxi rides to cost a few to a few dozen Botswana pula; shared minibuses are cheaper per person. Carry water and sun protection when walking.
