Kebili City
Oasis town famous for date palms
On the southern edge of Tunisia’s salt flats, Kebili funnels travelers toward the Sahara: palm groves, date markets and Chott el-Jerid’s cracked salt pans. Camel treks and overnight desert camps are the practical draws.
Why Visit Kebili?#
Kebili is a gateway to Tunisia’s southern landscapes, where palm oases and Saharan horizons meet salt flats like Chott el-Jerid. Visitors come for the desert scenery, date groves producing Deglet Nour, and local markets that reflect Amazigh and Arab influences; seasonal date festivals add cultural color. Camel treks, oases walks and nearby dunes make this a base for experiencing Sahara sunsets and traditional oasis life rather than urban tourism.
