The Jundu Mountains are a range in northern Beijing Municipality that form part of the high ground northwest of the city and host important passes of the Great Wall of China. The range defines key defensive and scenic terrain close to Beijing.
Hikers and sightseers find forested slopes, ridgelines and vantage points with views over surrounding plains and the city beyond. The mountains contain well known Great Wall sections and passes where restored Ming dynasty walls and watchtowers are accessible.
Ming dynasty builders routed major sections of the Great Wall across the Jundu Mountains to control approaches to Beijing, creating fortified passes and watchtowers at strategic points along the range.
Located northwest of central Beijing within Beijing Municipality, the Jundu Mountains form the upland backdrop to a number of suburban and rural districts and are the site of several public Great Wall access points.

Accessible from northern Beijing via bus and private car. Popular trailheads are reached by local buses and taxis; driving takes about 1-2 hours from central Beijing depending on traffic. For specific ridgelines, follow local signs to the village trailheads.

- Bring water and sun protection in summer; trails can be exposed.
- Hike early in the morning to avoid Beijing weekend crowds at popular access points.
- Visit lesser-known ridgelines for quieter views rather than the main tourist stretches.
