Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is a multi-purpose sports stadium in New Delhi, India, opened in the early 1980s and managed by the Sports Authority of India. It is one of the largest stadia in the country and a primary venue for national athletics and football.

The stadium contains a tiered main bowl with an all-seated capacity of about 60,000 and an eight-lane synthetic athletics track used for major track and field competitions. It has high-intensity floodlighting, modern media and VIP facilities, and is used for concerts and large civic events as well as sporting fixtures.

Originally constructed in the early 1980s, the venue underwent a major renovation ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games that upgraded seating, the track surface, and support facilities. It is named after India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.
