The Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah is the shrine complex built around the tomb of the 14th-century Sufi saint Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi. It functions as both a pilgrimage site and an active center for Sufi devotional practices.

The complex includes the saint’s tomb, the nearby grave of the poet and musician Amir Khusro, and adjoining prayer halls and courtyards where devotees gather. The site is particularly noted for its regular qawwali music sessions, most famously on Thursday evenings, which attract both local devotees and tourists.

The dargah developed and expanded over centuries, accumulating monuments and endowments during the Delhi Sultanate and Mughal eras as well as later periods, resulting in a mix of architectural elements. It remains an active religious site with daily ritual activity, custodianship, and visitor flows.

Geographically the shrine sits in the Nizamuddin neighborhood within the National Capital Territory of Delhi, a short distance from other historic monuments such as Humayun’s Tomb.

• Jamaat Khana and courtyards: The Jamaat Khana and surrounding courtyards host devotional gatherings and musical sessions, especially on certain evenings.

Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah is in the Nizamuddin neighbourhood of south Delhi. The site is very close to Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station - if arriving by mainline train the dargah is a roughly 5-10 minute walk from that station. From central Delhi (Connaught Place) it is reached by road via the Ring Road; by car or taxi the journey is typically around several kilometres and can take 20-40 minutes depending on traffic.

• Visit early on a weekday morning for a quieter, more reflective experience; if you want the musical tradition, attend the Thursday-night qawwali sessions but expect dense crowds and limited space.
• Enter from Nizamuddin Dargah Road and be prepared to remove shoes and cover your head when entering the inner sanctum; photography and filming are restricted during prayers and the most reverent moments.
• Combine the shrine visit with a stroll through the nearby Nizamuddin Basti and Sunder Nursery, which many visitors miss but are culturally and horticulturally rewarding.
