How to Get to Japeri
Japeri is part of the Rio de Janeiro commuter rail network (SuperVia). The easiest public route is by SuperVia train from Central do Brasil after arriving into Rio's airports (GIG or SDU).
Rio de Janeiro-Galeão-Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport (GIG): The main international airport for the Rio de Janeiro region. From GIG you can transfer by taxi or ride-hail to central Rio and then use SuperVia commuter trains toward Japeri; overall travel time is typically 1.5-2.5 hours depending on connections. Taxi direct to Japeri is possible but will be long and costly.
Santos Dumont Airport (SDU): Closer to central Rio but with fewer domestic routes; use city transport to reach Central do Brasil and then take SuperVia trains to Japeri (see train card).
Train: Japeri is a terminus/major stop on SuperVia’s commuter rail network (Deodoro/Japeri lines). Trains run from Central do Brasil to Japeri; travel time from Central do Brasil is typically around 90-120 minutes depending on service; SuperVia fares are fixed-check current fare information before travel.
Bus: Intermunicipal and municipal buses connect Japeri with nearby towns and with bus terminals in Rio. Buses and vans are useful for local transfers not served by rail.
How to Get Around Japeri #
Japeri is served by the SuperVia commuter trains (Japeri station) as well as local buses, taxis and motorcycle taxis. The central area is walkable for short trips between shops and services. Train and bus fares are inexpensive; trains that link to the Rio metropolitan area can be crowded at peak times. Keep an eye on schedules if making connections to other towns.
