How to Get to Queimados
Queimados is part of Rio de Janeiro's Baixada Fluminense and is most easily reached by SuperVia suburban train from Central do Brasil. International and domestic flights arrive at Galeão or Santos Dumont, followed by a short transfer into the rail network.
Rio de Janeiro-Galeão Antonio Carlos Jobim (GIG): The main international airport for Rio. To reach Queimados you can take an airport bus or taxi into Central do Brasil (30-60 minutes depending on traffic) and then the SuperVia suburban train. Taxi rides from GIG to Queimados typically take around 40-70 minutes.
Santos Dumont Airport (SDU): Closer to central Rio; from SDU take a short taxi or transport to Central do Brasil and then the SuperVia train to Queimados. Road times are similar to using GIG once you reach central Rio hubs.
Train: Queimados is served by SuperVia suburban trains (Queimados station). Trains from Central do Brasil to Queimados take roughly 40-60 minutes depending on stopping pattern; single-ride suburban fares are paid on board or at stations.
Bus: There are intermunicipal buses and local lines linking Queimados with Nova Iguaçu, Petrópolis and other towns in Baixada Fluminense. Local bus and van services complement the train network for routes that don’t run by rail.
How to Get Around Queimados #
Queimados is a commuter city where walking works in small neighbourhoods but not for long distances. Public buses and shared vans (micro-ônibus) link neighbourhoods and the surrounding Baixada Fluminense; taxis and app rides are available but less common than in Rio proper.
