The Ilgaz Mountains are a mountain range in northern Turkey within Kastamonu Province, notable for rugged peaks and a popular national park. The range’s highest summit reaches 2,587 metres above sea level.

Recreation in the range centers on Ilgaz Mountain National Park, which provides marked hiking tracks, picnic areas and viewpoints in summer and ski facilities in winter. The combination of alpine terrain and relatively easy access from nearby towns makes the area a regional outdoor destination.

The highland area was designated as a national park in the 20th century to protect its forests and mountain landscapes and to provide public recreation. Over time visitor facilities such as ski lifts and trail infrastructure were added to support tourism and seasonal sports.

The Ilgaz Mountains sit in north-central Turkey, primarily within Kastamonu Province and close to the boundary with neighbouring provinces. The range forms part of the northern Anatolian highlands and is characterized by steep valleys and coniferous forests.
