How to Get to IJmuiden#
IJmuiden on the North Sea coast is most commonly reached via Amsterdam Schiphol or Haarlem by combining train and regional bus. The rail+bus combination is practical; taxis are faster but cost more.
Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS): Schiphol is the main international airport for IJmuiden. Train: The nearest mainline stations are Haarlem and Amsterdam Sloterdijk; both are served by NS trains from Schiphol and other Dutch cities. From Haarlem and Sloterdijk you transfer to a Connexxion/ARRIVA regional bus to IJmuiden.
Bus: Local/ regional buses (Connexxion and others) run regular services between Haarlem/Amsterdam and IJmuiden (check regional timetables). Single fares are generally in the €3-5 range and journeys from Haarlem take around 20-35 minutes.
