How to Get to Ifrane National Park #
Ifrane National Park is centred around the town of Ifrane in Morocco’s Middle Atlas. The park and its forested areas are reached by road from the town of Ifrane; by car it’s roughly a 1-1.5 hour drive from Fès (around 60-80 km) on the main highways.
Regular intercity buses (CTM/Supratours and regional operators) run between Fès and Ifrane; from Ifrane town you can hire local taxis to trailheads and picnic areas within the park.
Tips for Visiting Ifrane National Park #
- Head out from the town of Ifrane early in the morning to see cedar forests and to increase chances of spotting wildlife-wild Barbary macaques and rich birdlife are most active at dawn.
- Stop at the cedar groves near Azrou (a common access point) and allow time for short forest walks rather than just driving through; many visitors miss the quieter side trails that hold larger stands of old cedar.
- If you plan longer hikes, hire a local guide from Ifrane or Azrou who knows the best trails and seasonal conditions-some higher routes are best visited in late spring to early autumn for reliable access.
