The Historic Fortified Town of Campeche is a colonial walled town on the western shore of the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico, noted for its extensive 17th- and 18th-century defensive works. The town’s fortifications and well-preserved colonial buildings illustrate Spanish military and urban responses to seaborne threats.

The urban fabric combines a regular colonial street grid with a continuous ring of bastions, ramparts and fortified gates. Streets are lined with colonial-era houses and public buildings, many with restored painted facades and arcades, and the waterfront gives views over the Bay of Campeche.

Founded during the early colonial period in the 16th century, the town developed as a strategic port and commercial hub. During the 17th and 18th centuries substantial defensive works were constructed to protect it from pirate and privateer attacks, shaping the fortified ensemble that survives today.

The town lies on the coast of the Bay of Campeche in the state of Campeche, on the western margin of the Yucatán Peninsula. It functions as the regional capital and port for the surrounding low-lying coastal plain.
