The Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden is the principal state theatre in Wiesbaden, Hesse, combining opera, ballet and spoken theatre under one institution. The current theatre building dates from the late 19th century and serves as the region’s main stage for large-scale productions.

Built in the late 19th century as a municipal theatre, it developed into the state theatre serving Hesse and has undergone alterations and restorations to accommodate changing technical and audience needs. It has long been the centre of professional performing arts in Wiesbaden.

The theatre is located in central Wiesbaden, within easy walking distance of the city centre and main transport nodes, making it accessible to residents and visitors to the Hesse capital.

• Mixed repertoire: Operas, ballet and spoken drama are all presented in the same institution, making it the principal multi-disciplinary performing arts venue in Wiesbaden.
• Central location: The building dates from the late 19th century and sits in Wiesbaden’s central theatre and cultural district, so public transport and short walks from the city centre are the usual access routes.

The theatre is in central Wiesbaden; it is walkable from Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof (main station) or reachable by local buses and trams. Parking and taxi services are available nearby.

• Book guided tours of the theatre if available - the building's interiors and backstage areas are particularly interesting to see.
• Check the season's programme online; the house offers opera, ballet and drama across a wide annual calendar.
• Arrive early to admire the theatre's foyer and staircases, which are often as impressive as the stage.
