Hazmburk is a ruined medieval castle perched on an isolated hill in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. The site is best known for its surviving stone towers that dominate the summit and the surrounding countryside.

Remains include defensive walls and two prominent towers that are frequent subjects for photographs and local hikes; the site is visited for short walks and panoramic views. The castle’s ruins preserve the outline of a fortified hilltop stronghold typical of medieval Central Europe.

The castle originated in the medieval period and later fell into disuse and ruin; today it is a protected historic ruin and a local recreational destination.

Hazmburk sits on a volcanic hill within rural terrain of the Ústí nad Labem Region, within easy driving distance of nearby towns and regional roads.

• What many visitors miss: the broad views over the surrounding lowlands and vineyards from the top of the towers; bring a camera for panoramas rather than focusing only on the keep.
