Hamilton Grange National Memorial preserves the relocated country home of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, located in St. Nicholas Park in upper Manhattan. The house was constructed for Hamilton in the early 19th century and is one of the few surviving homes associated directly with a Founding Father in New York City.
The site presents the restored interior rooms and exhibits about Hamilton’s public life and the early Republic, with interpretive panels that explain his political and financial contributions. The building itself is a two-story frame house configured with period rooms for public viewing.
Alexander Hamilton had the house built during the 1800s and lived there while serving in public roles at the end of his life. The structure was moved from its original lot and preserved as a memorial to his life and work.
The memorial is sited within St. Nicholas Park in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan, adjacent to city streets and public transit access.
- Relocation: The house has been relocated from its original lot and now stands within St. Nicholas Park, where it is managed as a National Memorial by the National Park Service.
