Haji Ali Dargah

Haji Ali Dargah is a 15th-century Muslim shrine and mosque located on a small islet off the coast of Mumbai, connected to the city by a raised causeway. The shrine houses the tomb of the Sufi saint Haji Ali and is both a pilgrimage destination and a popular city landmark.

The white-marble tomb and mosque complex sit at the islet’s high point and are approached via a narrow walkway that can be affected by tides and coastal weather. The site is active for religious ceremonies and attracts devotees as well as visitors for its coastal setting and architectural presence.

The structure and precinct were established in the 15th century and have been maintained as a religious site and community focal point ever since. Renovations and conservation efforts have preserved the shrine while accommodating large numbers of visitors.

The dargah sits offshore from the Worli area of South Mumbai, connected to the mainland by a causeway that is walkable at most tide levels and visible from adjacent coastal roads and promenades.
