How to Get to Gimje#

Gimje is best reached by regional train or intercity bus via the Honam corridor; the nearest airports are Gunsan for regional flights or Seoul’s airports for international travellers. For most visitors the quickest rail link is to Jeonju or Iksan followed by a short local connection.

By Air

Gunsan Airport (KUV): Gunsan is the closest airport serving the western Jeolla region; from Gunsan the drive to Gimje is about 30-60 minutes depending on route and traffic. Taxis or transfers from Gunsan to Gimje are straightforward and commonly used by regional travellers.

Gimpo International Airport (GMP) / Incheon (ICN): For international arrivals you will typically fly into Gimpo or Incheon (Seoul) and then travel by train or bus to the Honam region. From Seoul the fastest option is to take the KTX or express bus to nearby cities (Jeonju/Gunsan) and connect by local transport to Gimje; expect total travel times of 2.5-4.5 hours depending on mode and transfers.

By Train & Bus

Train: Gimje Station is on the Honam Line (served by Korail) with regional trains connecting to Jeonju, Iksan and other cities. KTX high-speed services do not stop at Gimje, so travellers usually take KTX to Iksan or Jeonju and transfer to a local train or bus for the final leg.
