Gibeon (ancient city)

Gibeon is an ancient Canaanite and Israelite city identified with the archaeological tell known as Tell el-Jib, located in the Jerusalem region. It is mentioned in biblical texts and has produced significant archaeological remains from Bronze and Iron Age levels.

Excavations at the tell have revealed settlement layers, monumental architecture, and features related to urban life such as storage areas and defensive works. One notable feature at the site is an ancient water-management system and traces of fortifications.
