Geleshan National Forest Park

Geleshan National Forest Park is a protected wooded park on Geleshan (Gele Mountain) within Chongqing Municipality, known as one of the city’s main urban forest areas. It functions as a recreational green space with forested slopes and managed trails rather than a large wilderness reserve.

The park contains a network of paths and short hiking routes that lead to ridgelines and viewing platforms; many routes are suitable for day hikes of 1-3 kilometers. Picnic areas, stone steps and paved walkways make parts of the park accessible for casual walkers, and there are often small temples and local monuments scattered through the woods.

The mountain and surrounding woods have long been used by local residents for recreation; the area has been managed as a municipal forest and public park in recent decades to protect green space around Chongqing. Facilities and trails have been developed incrementally to support tourism and day-use visits.

The park sits inside Chongqing Municipality on Geleshan, on the western side of the dense urban corridor of Chongqing. It is reached by local roads from the city and functions as a nearby nature area for residents and visitors to the municipality.
