Ganjnameh is an Achaemenid-period rock inscription site near Hamadan in western Iran, where two trilingual cuneiform inscriptions are carved into a granite outcrop. The panels were produced by Achaemenid royal authority and are an important primary source for the Persian imperial period.
The inscriptions are written in Old Persian, Elamite and Babylonian (Akkadian) and stand side by side on the rock face; they are set into a small park that includes terraces and a pathway for visitors. The site includes carved texts and some masonry elements integrated into the slope.
The panels are products of the Achaemenid imperial era and are commonly attributed to rulerships of the 5th century BCE; they record royal declarations typical of contemporary monumental inscriptions. Since their carving the panels have been visible landmarks on the mountain flank and later attracted antiquarian and scholarly attention.
Ganjnameh lies at the foot of the Alvand massif near the modern city of Hamadan in Iran’s Hamadan province. The site is accessible from Hamadan and sits within a small riverside park area close to the ancient routes through the region.
