Gabal Elba National Park is a protected area in Egypt’s far southeast, located in Red Sea Governorate and centred on the mountain area of Jabal Elba. The park conserves a mix of coastal, mountain and desert environments that support atypical biodiversity for the region.
The mountain zones contain pockets of shrubs and trees and act as ecological oases, supporting plant species and migratory birds that are scarce elsewhere in Egyptian desert areas. Coastal sections of the park include mangroves and offshore coral reef habitats that add marine biodiversity to the protected area.
