Fruška Gora National Park is a protected mountain ridge in the Vojvodina region of northern Serbia, designated as a national park in 1960. It is known for its forested slopes and a dense concentration of Serbian Orthodox monasteries from the late medieval period.

Many visitors move between forest trails, viewpoints and the historic monasteries dotted along the ridge; the park is popular for day hikes and cycling across its upland tracks. The site contains roughly sixteen medieval monastic foundations, several of which preserve frescoes, church architecture and functioning communities.

The slope settlements and monastic foundations were established from the medieval period onward and many monasteries were rebuilt or refurbished between the 15th and 18th centuries. The area was set aside as a national park in the mid-20th century to protect its forests and cultural monuments.

Fruška Gora occupies a compact ridge in the Syrmia (Srem) area of Vojvodina, between the Danube and Sava river basins, near the city of Novi Sad in northern Serbia.

• Best times and visiting notes: Spring and autumn offer the clearest hiking weather and best views; some monasteries observe restricted visiting hours and religious services.

From Novi Sad it’s about 20-30 km east by road (approximately 40-45 minutes by car). Local buses and organized tours run to monastery clusters; renting a car or bike gives the most flexibility to hop between sites.

• Rent a bike or take local forest trails to reach several monasteries in one day; the small roads are cyclist-friendly.
• Visit early to hear monks' bell patterns and to explore smaller monasteries that get few tourists.
• Bring insect repellent in summer - wooded trails can be buggy.
