Fossanova Abbey Museum

Fossanova Abbey is a Cistercian monastery in Lazio, Italy, noted for its early Gothic-Romanesque architecture. The monastery complex retains a cohesive medieval plan and stonework that illustrate Cistercian monastic building principles.

The abbey dates to the 12th century and is associated with the Cistercian expansion across Italy. It is also known as the place where Thomas Aquinas died in 1274 while en route to the Second Council of Lyon.
