Fort Siloso
Museum Coastal artillery fort on Sentosa, WWII exhibits
A preserved coastal fortress on Sentosa Island, Fort Siloso offers WWII exhibits, restored gun emplacements and tunnels; visitors interested in Singapore’s wartime history make guided tours of the site.
Fort Siloso is a 19th-century coastal artillery fort at the western end of Sentosa Island in Singapore, now conserved as a military heritage site and museum. It was part of the island’s coastal defence system and retains multiple gun positions and defensive works.
Visitors can explore restored gun emplacements, concrete batteries and casemates, along with above-ground interpretive displays and preserved artillery. Several short walkways and tunnels are open to the public to illustrate how the fort functioned.
The fort originated as part of British-era coastal defences and saw further use and modification during the 20th century. After military use ceased it was converted into a public heritage attraction with museum displays about Singapore’s coastal defences.
The site occupies the western tip of Sentosa Island, reachable from central Singapore via Sentosa’s transport links and pedestrian access from the mainland.
