Firestone District

Firestone District is an administrative area in Margibi County, Liberia, associated with the large rubber operations and company town historically developed by the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company.

The district encompasses plantation lands, company infrastructure and settled communities originally established to support commercial rubber production; it functions primarily as an agricultural and industrial area rather than a leisure destination.

The district’s origins stem from the mid-1920s concession granted to Firestone to develop rubber cultivation in Liberia, which led to the construction of processing facilities and a company town to house workers.

Geographically, Firestone District sits within Margibi County in central Liberia, to the east of the Monrovia metropolitan area and centered on the plantation and town of Harbel.
