How to Get to Fériana#
Fériana is a small inland town in Kasserine Governorate with no major airport of its own; most international arrivals come via Tunis-Carthage (TUN) or regional Gafsa (GAF) and continue by road or regional rail to Kasserine. Ground connections are a mix of SNCFT regional trains, intercity buses and shared taxis (louage).
Tunis-Carthage International Airport (TUN): The main international gateway for Tunisia; from Tunis you can reach Fériana by rented car or intercity bus. Expect a road transfer of roughly 3-4 hours by car; private transfer/taxi prices typically run about 120-180 TND one-way depending on vehicle and provider (approx.).
Gafsa-Ksar International Airport (GAF): The closest commercial airport serving central/southern-western Tunisia. From Gafsa a taxi or shared grand-taxi to Fériana takes around 1.5-2 hours; expect fares in the 30-60 TND range for a private taxi (approx.).
Train: Fériana is served by regional rail and road links via Kasserine on the SNCFT network. Trains in Tunisia are inexpensive; a regional train from Tunis to Kasserine typically costs in the low tens of TND and takes several hours - check SNCFT timetables for current services.
Bus: Intercity buses and louage (shared taxis) are the most practical option. Louage from Kasserine or Gafsa to Fériana commonly runs; expect a one-way louage fare of roughly 4-10 TND and travel times of 30-90 minutes depending on origin and stops.
How to Get Around Fériana#
Local travel around Fériana is best done by louage for short hops and by private taxi or rental car for flexibility - regional buses and SNCFT trains cover longer links. Expect basic infrastructure: plan transfers in advance and allow padding for irregular schedules.
- Regional bus / Intercity coach (3-20 TND) - Intercity buses link Fériana with Kasserine, Gafsa and larger Tunisian cities. Coaches are affordable and comfortable for longer hops; timetables can be sparse so check local departures the day before. Book at the station or via local operators for guaranteed seats on popular routes.
- Louage (shared taxi) (3-10 TND) - Louage are shared minibuses or shared taxis that run between nearby towns on fixed routes and depart once full. They are the most common and quickest public option for short trips; expect variable schedules and crowded vehicles during peak times. Carry small change and be prepared to wait until the vehicle fills.
- Private taxi / hire car (30-180 TND) - Taxis or private hires are convenient for direct transfers from airports and for trips where schedules don’t match. Prices are negotiable for longer trips; ask for a fixed price before leaving. Renting a car gives flexibility to explore the surrounding Kasserine region but watch for local driving conditions and road signage.
- SNCFT regional train (~5-30 TND) - Tunisia’s national rail operator runs regional services connecting larger towns; Kasserine is the nearest significant rail hub. Trains are cheap and reasonably comfortable for daytime travel, but services can be slower than road transfers. Check SNCFT for current timetables and ticketing.
- Walking - Fériana’s town centre is compact and walkable for short errands, markets and local sights. Sidewalks and lighting vary by street; wear sensible shoes and avoid walking long distances after dark in rural stretches.

A couple of family-run hotels offer comfortable rooms and local breakfasts. Booking may require phone contact or use of Tunisian platforms.
Kairouan / Sousse - $90+/night
Fériana is small and has no major luxury resorts; for five-star hotels, head to larger Tunisian cities like Kairouan or Sousse.
Shopping in Fériana#
Shopping in Fériana is basic and local: small groceries, household shops and occasional stalls selling produce, olives and local foods. There aren’t big malls or many tourist-oriented craft shops, but you’ll find everyday goods and seasonal market stalls in the town centre.
