How to Get to Farkhor
Farkhor (Khatlon) is generally reached by combining air into Dushanbe or a regional airport with an overland bus, marshrutka or taxi for the final leg. Road travel in southern Tajikistan can be slow; plan extra time for connections.
Dushanbe International Airport (DYU): Dushanbe is the main international airport for most travellers to southern Tajikistan; from Dushanbe you can continue by road or rail toward Khatlon Region and reach Farkhor via a regional transfer. Travel times can be several hours depending on route and connections.
Kulyab / Kulob (regional): There are regional airports in Khatlon (Kulob/Bokhtar area) with limited services; these can shorten the overland transfer to Farkhor if schedules align, but Dushanbe remains the main international arrival point for most visitors.
Train: Tajik Railways connects Dushanbe with cities in Khatlon; from a nearby railhead you will typically take a bus or taxi for the final leg to Farkhor. Train services are useful for longer-distance travel within the country.
