How to Get to Enfidha#
Enfidha is reachable via Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport (NBE) and by rail on Tunisia’s coastal line; Tunis-Carthage (TUN) is the nearest major alternative airport. Regional trains and shared minibuses (louages) are the main public options for arriving at town centres.
Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport (NBE): The closest airport serving Enfidha and the Sahel resorts. From NBE you can take an airport shuttle or shared minibus (louage) toward Sousse or Tunis (typical fare 5-12 TND, journey 25-60 minutes depending on destination) or a taxi (around 30-50 TND, 20-40 minutes to central Enfidha/Sousse).
Tunis-Carthage Airport (TUN): Tunisia’s main international airport in Tunis is an alternative if you fly in on more carriers. From TUN you can take a train or intercity bus to the Sahel; expect transfer times of about 1-1.5 hours to Sousse by road. Taxi or private transfer to Enfidha is possible (roughly 60-100 TND, ~1-1.5 hours) and car rental is widely available.
Train: Enfidha is served by the national rail network (Gare d’Enfidha) on the Tunis-Sfax line. Trains run between Tunis, Sousse and towns on the Sahel; regional fares are inexpensive (a few TND, typically 2-6 TND) and travel times are roughly 30-90 minutes depending on origin (Sousse ~30-40 min; Tunis ~1-1.5 hr).
Bus / Louage: Shared minibuses (louages) and intercity coaches connect Enfidha with Sousse, Hammamet and Tunis. Louage to nearby towns typically costs 3-10 TND and takes 20-60 minutes; longer coach routes to Tunis or Monastir cost more and take up to 1-2 hours. Local taxis and private transfers are common for last-mile connections.
How to Get Around Enfidha#
Getting around Enfidha works best by combining regional trains or louages for intercity travel and taxis or a rental car for local flexibility. For short distances the town is walkable; for visiting beaches and scattered sites a car or scooter helps.
- Regional train (SNCFT) (2-6 TND) - The national rail operator runs regional services through Gare d’Enfidha on the Tunis-Sfax line. Trains are the most economical way to reach Sousse or Tunis from Enfidha. Expect basic rolling stock and modest facilities; check timetables in advance as frequencies are lower outside peak tourist season.
- Louage / Shared minibus (3-12 TND) - Louages are shared minibuses that run frequently between Enfidha, Sousse, Hammamet and Tunis. They are cheap, flexible and a go-to local option, but they leave only when full and can be crowded. Good for budget travellers and short hops.
- Taxi / Private transfer (10-100 TND) - Taxis and private transfers are convenient for door-to-door travel, luggage or early/late flights. Negotiate or confirm a meter/price before starting. Expect higher fares from airports than town-to-town trips but useful for direct connections.
- Car rental (From ~40 TND/day) - Renting a car gives the most freedom to explore the Sahel coast and inland sites. Roads around Enfidha are generally in good condition; parking in smaller towns is easy. Fuel and rental costs are similar to other Mediterranean countries.
- Bicycle / Scooter (5-20 TND/day) - For short distances around town and to nearby beaches, scooters or bicycles are a practical option in warm months. Hire options exist in tourist areas; watch for local traffic habits and limited cycle lanes.
- Walking - Enfidha town centre is compact and walkable for short trips, with local shops and cafés within easy reach. Walking is the best way to explore neighbourhood streets and local markets.
