The Elephant Fountain (Fontana dell’Elefante) is a Baroque fountain in Piazza del Duomo in Catania, Sicily. It is one of the city’s principal symbols and a focal point of the cathedral square.

The monument features a carved lava-stone elephant supporting an obelisk and is positioned directly in front of the cathedral, making it a common meeting point and photo subject. The fountain and statue are closely associated with the urban identity of Catania.

The present fountain ensemble was created in the 18th century by architect-sculptor Giovanni Battista Vaccarini, incorporating an older elephant figure carved from local volcanic stone. Over time it has served as both a civic monument and a recognizable emblem of the city.

Located in the heart of Catania, the fountain stands in Piazza del Duomo beside the Cathedral of Sant’Agata and is easily reached on foot from the surrounding historic centre.
