How to Get to El Shorouk#
El Shorouk is part of Greater Cairo’s eastern suburbs and is principally accessed by road from Cairo International Airport or central Cairo. There is no direct metro link; taxis and private transfers are the most practical for most visitors.
Cairo International Airport (CAI): El Shorouk is a New Cairo suburb east of central Cairo; the drive from CAI is typically 25-45 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis or app-based ride services are the easiest way to reach El Shorouk from the airport, with fares generally in the low hundreds of Egyptian pounds.
Borg El Arab / Alexandria: For some routes travellers may fly into or out of Alexandria and continue overland, but Cairo International is the most practical gateway for El Shorouk.
Train: Cairo Metro does not reach El Shorouk; the metro system serves central Cairo and parts of greater Cairo but you will need a taxi or bus for the last leg to El Shorouk.
Bus / Microbus: Public buses and microbuses serve New Cairo and El Shorouk from central Cairo and adjacent suburbs. Shared microbuses are frequent and inexpensive but can be crowded; taxis or app-based car services are faster and more comfortable for most visitors.
