El-Kouf National Park in northeastern Libya protects Mediterranean coastline, cliffs and wooded slopes in Jabal al Akhdar; visitors come for coastal scenery, wildlife and small seaside villages along the shore.
El-Kouf (Al-Kouf) National Park is a protected area in northeastern Libya within the Jabal al Akhdar region. The park encompasses coastal and inland zones and is intended to conserve local Mediterranean and semi-arid habitats.
The park includes sections of coastline and adjacent upland terrain characteristic of the eastern Libyan Mediterranean and is one of Libya’s designated national parks. Access and visitor infrastructure are limited compared with parks in many other countries.
The reserve lies in the Jabal al Akhdar area of northeastern Libya, along the Mediterranean coast and inland towards the higher ground of the region.
