Park Former Brooklyn baseball stadium, Dodgers' historic home
Former Brooklyn baseball stadium, home to the Dodgers until 1957; the site attracts baseball historians and fans to plaques, stories and neighbourhood tours.
Ebbets Field was a baseball stadium in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, that opened in 1913 and served as the home of the Brooklyn Dodgers through 1957. It was a central venue for professional baseball and other events in mid‑20th century New York.
Though the ballpark no longer stands, the location is visited by baseball historians and fans because of its association with the Dodgers and milestones such as Jackie Robinson’s integration of Major League Baseball in 1947. Documentary material, photographs and markers at the site preserve the ballpark’s memory.
Built by and named for Charles Ebbets, the stadium hosted regular season baseball, occasional concerts and civic events until the team relocated to Los Angeles after 1957; the ballpark was demolished in 1960. The site today is a residential development with historical markers noting the stadium’s footprint.
Ebbets Field occupied a block in Flatbush, Brooklyn, near the intersection of streets in that neighborhood and is part of Brooklyn’s sporting and social history.
