Dniester Lyman Lake

The Dniester Lyman is the estuarine liman formed at the mouth of the Dniester River on the northwestern shore of the Black Sea in Odesa Oblast, Ukraine. It is an interface of river and marine environments with brackish waters and lagoonal features.

The feature includes shallow basins and elongated bays typical of limans along the Black Sea coast and supports local fishing and coastal wetland habitats. It is regionally important for fisheries, navigation at local ports, and coastal ecosystems.

Historically the lyman has been shaped by river discharge, sediment deposition, and coastal processes that form spits and sandbars across the river mouth; human activity has influenced navigation channels and local land use over time.
