Waterfall Scenic waterfall in Sri Lanka's central highlands
Set among central highland tea country, Devon Falls is a roadside cascade often paired with trips between Nuwara Eliya and the tea plantations; visitors photograph the drop and inspect nearby viewpoints.
Devon Falls is a waterfall in the Central Province of Sri Lanka, near the hill-country town of Talawakele. It is one of the notable waterfalls of the central highlands and drops roughly 97 metres.
Surrounded by tea plantations, the falls are visible from the nearby road and short estate paths, which are the main places visitors stop to photograph the cascade and the surrounding valley. There are no extensive facilities at the site.
The fall is a natural feature of the highland drainage and acquired its English name during the British colonial tea-plantation period. It has remained a roadside attraction since the plantation era.
The waterfall sits within the tea-growing landscape of Nuwara Eliya District in Sri Lanka’s central highlands, close to the town of Talawakele and surrounded by steep, cultivated slopes.
- Viewing: Set in tea-country; best views are from roadside viewpoints and nearby estate lanes rather than a formal viewing platform.
- Height: The falls drop roughly 97 metres, making them one of the taller waterfalls in Sri Lanka's central highlands.
