About Darsah#

Darsah is a small, uninhabited island in the Socotra archipelago off the coast of Yemen, noted for its natural values and inclusion in the wider Socotra conservation area. It is one of the smaller satellite islands associated with Socotra.

The island is best known for its seabird colonies and surrounding marine habitat rather than built attractions. Shorelines and offshore waters support seabirds and marine life typical of the Socotra group, making it a destination for naturalists and scientific surveys rather than routine tourism.

Darsah has no recorded continuous habitation in modern times and has been managed as part of the Socotra Archipelago’s protected landscape. Conservation attention on the Socotra group increased after the archipelago received UNESCO World Heritage status in 2008.

Geographically it sits in the Arabian Sea as part of Yemen’s Socotra Governorate, lying within the chain of islands that make up the Socotra Archipelago. The island is reached only by boat from the main island of Socotra and is several tens of kilometres from the larger main island.
