How to Get to Constitucion
Constitución is mainly reached by road from regional airports in Talca or Concepción; passenger rail service is not available directly to the town. Intercity buses are the straightforward public option, with regular connections from Talca and Concepción.
La Araucanía / Carriel Sur Airport (CCP): For Constitución the nearest larger airport is Carriel Sur in Concepción; driving from Concepción to Constitución takes about 1.5-2 hours (depending on exact start point) and private transfers or taxis will be the most direct option. Transfer costs vary; expect private transfers to be significantly more than bus fares.
Talca / Panguilemo Airport (TLX): Talca’s Panguilemo (TLX) is the closest regional airport on the same side of the Maule Region. From Talca to Constitución by road is roughly 1-1.25 hours; local buses connect the two, and a taxi or private transfer will be quicker but cost more.
Train: Chile’s long-distance passenger rail services in this area are limited; there is no regular intercity passenger rail directly serving Constitución, so trains are not the usual option.
Bus: Buses are the main public transport to Constitución. Buses run from Talca and from larger hubs such as Chillán or Concepción; the Talca-Constitución route takes about 1-1.25 hours and fares commonly range from CLP 2,000-6,000 depending on company and service level. From Santiago expect a 3-4 hour bus trip with fares varying by operator.
How to Get Around Constitucion #
Constitución’s downtown and waterfront areas are compact and pleasant to explore on foot.
