How to Get to Charlestown, Nevis

Charlestown is the principal town on Nevis, reached by ferry from Basseterre or by flights into Vance W. Amory International Airport (NEV). The town is compact and most visitors arrive by sea from St Kitts or by short island flights.

By Air

Vance W. Amory International Airport (NEV): Nevis’s main airport, located near Newcastle and the island’s capital Charlestown. The NEV terminal is a short drive from Charlestown - expect a 10-15 minute taxi ride; fares are modest and taxis are readily available outside arrivals.

Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport (SKB): If you arrive on St Kitts at SKB and need to reach Charlestown, you’ll normally take the ferry from Basseterre to Charlestown (see By Train & Bus). Domestic flights between SKB and NEV are also possible via small carriers or charters.

By Train & Bus

Ferry: The most common way to reach Charlestown from St Kitts (Basseterre) is by ferry. Crossings take about 30-40 minutes; passenger-only services and car ferries run several times daily depending on season. Fares are generally in the US$10-25 range one-way.

Road (Taxis / minibuses): On Nevis, taxis and small minibuses connect Charlestown with other parts of the island; journeys are short (10-30 minutes) and fares are set locally. There is no rail service.
