The Cerne Abbas Giant is a large hillside chalk figure near the village of Cerne Abbas in Dorset, England, depicting a naked male figure holding a club. The outline is cut into the chalk of a steep slope and is a well‑known local landmark.

The giant is best appreciated from the valley below and from nearby footpaths that skirt the hillside; its full scale becomes apparent only from distance. The figure’s bold outline and position on the slope make it a frequent subject for photographers and walkers exploring the Dorset Downs.

The origin of the figure is debated among scholars and antiquarians; its earliest documented references date to the 17th century, but theories for its creation range from prehistoric ritual figures to early modern work.
