Catesby Priory Historical Site

A medieval religious house established as an Augustinian priory in the village of Catesby in Northamptonshire. The foundation dates to the 12th century and it served as a conventual community for nuns.

The site today is rural with limited above-ground fabric; visitors encounter surviving earthworks and traces of former buildings rather than an intact monastery complex. Public access is restricted in places and much of the site is approached from surrounding farmland and footpaths.

Founded in the 12th century as an Augustinian nunnery, the priory operated through the medieval period until its suppression in the 16th century under the Dissolution of the Monasteries. After suppression the buildings fell out of religious use and were largely dismantled or repurposed.
