By day Bur Dubai feels busy and local, souks, small restaurants and the Al Fahidi museum quarter attract cultural visitors. After dark Downtown comes alive with rooftop lounges and illuminated towers, while the creekside promenades and Al Seef provide more relaxed waterfront cafés and evening strolls.

Getting There & Around

How to Get to Bur Dubai & Downtown

  • Dubai International Airport (DXB): Public transport: Take the Dubai Metro Red Line from the airport metro station; change at BurJuman or Union for the Green Line to reach Al Fahidi/Bur Dubai or stay on Red Line for Downtown (30-40 minutes, one to two changes, low-cost Nol fares). Taxi/ride-hail: 15-30 minutes depending on traffic, metered fares are moderate.
  • Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC): Public transport: There is no direct metro; a combination of regional bus services plus metro changes can connect you but will take 60-90 minutes and is less convenient. Taxi/ride-hail: taxi is simplest, expect a longer drive and higher fare than from DXB.
  • From the main sights: To Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall: take the metro (Green/Red interchange at BurJuman or Al Fahidi then Red Line), 20-30 minutes and cheap by Nol; taxi is quicker door-to-door (10-20 minutes) depending on traffic.

Getting Around Bur Dubai & Downtown

  • Metro: BurJuman and Al Fahidi stations (Green and Red lines) make most of the neighbourhood easy to reach; buy a Nol card for transfers.
  • Abra and water taxis: Traditional abras cross Dubai Creek frequently and are the fastest, cheapest way to hop between Bur Dubai and Deira.
  • Walking and taxis: Al Fahidi, Al Seef and the creek promenade are highly walkable; taxis and ride-hails are plentiful and metered.
