Most international travelers arrive via Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ), the country’s primary gateway. It is the most direct airport for reaching Sarajevo and nearby sights in Sarajevo & the surrounding hills, including Baščaršija, Trebević, the War Childhood Museum, the Sarajevo Tunnel, and Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque.
Other airports with scheduled commercial service are Banja Luka International Airport (BNX), Mostar International Airport (OMO), and Tuzla International Airport (TZL). BNX serves Banja Luka in the North and Republika Srpska towns region, while OMO is the closest airport for Mostar & Herzegovina highlights such as Mostar and Stari Most, as well as trips to Medjugorje, Kravica (waterfall), and Blagaj tekke. TZL is another secondary international option tied to the city of Tuzla.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has four airports with scheduled commercial service, and all four are international airports, so flying is mainly about entering the country and reaching key cities rather than relying on domestic hops.
